C or less. The core or the skin contains a foam agent. A manufacturing method of the expandable polystyrene-based bead comprises: a step of manufacturing dispersion liquid by inserting a monomer with the glass transition temperature of 120 deg. C or less into the core; and a step of polymerizing the dispersion liquid.

    • An artificial marble is provided to have a low content of monomer remaining in final products, be easily curable, and have improved workability because an offensive odor is not emitted during a sanding work. A method for manufacturing artificial marble includes the steps of: adding a reaction accelerator and an initiator mixture to an acrylic resin syrup to prepare an artificial marble slurry, wherein the initiator mixture comprises (A) an initiator to be decomposed by the reaction accelerator and (B) a thermally labile initiator; and hardening the artificial marble slurry. The reaction accelerator is a metal hydroxide or mercaptan. The initiator(A) is selected from the group consisting of t-butyl peroxymaleate, t-butyl peroxyacetate, and a mixture thereof. The thermally labile initiator(B) is selected from the group consisting of benzoyl peroxide, lauroyl peroxide, butyl hydroperoxide, cumyl hydroperoxide, t-butyl peroxyhexanoate, and mixtures thereof.

The third stage is to inject base-forming slurry to cover pattern-forming slurry. The fourth stage is to harden the forming cell after injecting slurry. Therefore, clear patterns are not changed though a surface is shaven.

    • PURPOSE: Provided is an artificial marble having homogeneous marble chip distribution on both sides of marble due to no change in sedimentation rate of marble chips by using marble chips having uniform density and monomer absorption without using an additive like thickener. CONSTITUTION: The artificial marble comprises 100pts.wt. of artificial marble slurry and 5-70pts.wt. of marble chips. The marble slurry is composed of 100pts.wt. of acrylic resin syrup containing more than 65wt.% of acrylic monomer and less than 35wt.% of polymer, 120-200pts.wt. of inorganic marble filling materials, 2-10wt.% of plasticizer and 0.1-10pts.wt. of polymerization initiator such as benzoyl peroxide or azobis isobutyronitrile. The marble chip, being 0.1-5mm in size, is composed of 100pts.wt. of acrylic resin syrup, 100-150pts.wt. of inorganic marble filling materials, 2-10wt.% of plasticizer and 0.1-10pts.wt. of polymerization initiator. The plasticizer is selected from ethylene glycol dimethacrylate, propylene glycol dimethacrylate and glycerol trimethacrylate. The inorganic filling materials, being 1-100micrometer in size, are selected from CaCO3, Al(OH)3, SiO2, Al2O3 and Mg(OH)2.
