The secondary display panel is located in the front of the main display panel. The secondary display panel changes the polarized light information of left image or right image. A plurality of first electrodes(128) are patterned along the row of the pixels in the first substrate. The pixels are formed in the main display panel. The second electrode(129) is formed in the front side of the pixel of the second substrate. The light source supplies the light to the rearward of the main display panel.

    • An image simulation apparatus is provided to simulate an image realized on a flat panel display device according to the reflection or transmission of the light. A luminance synthesizing unit(100) calculates data about the luminance emitted in the first area and the second area. The light penetrates through the first area and is reflected on the second area. A gray scale converting unit(120) calculates the gray scale values for each voltage by multiplying the normalized first area luminance-voltage data and second area luminance-voltage data by the total gray level. The gray scale converting unit receives gray scale data for each luminance of RGB from a de-gamma processing unit(110) and then obtains voltage value data for gray level data of each cell.

    • An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) capable of controlling a polar angle and a driving method thereof are provided to control blocking/transmission of light and polar angle characteristics and control wide/narrow polar angle modes without loss of resolution by applying a passive barrier to an LC panel and efficiently controlling a signal applied to the LC panel. In an LC panel(110), plural pixels are arranged in matrix. Each of the plural pixels has a quad structure comprising neighboring RGB(Red, Green and Blue) color pixels(B) and a control pixel(C). A pixel barrier(120) is disposed in an upper part of the LC panel, and is formed in an area corresponding to the control pixel. A backlight assembly(130) is disposed in a lower part of the LC panel, and supplies light to the LC panel. The RGB color pixels operates in the ECB(Electrically Controlled Birefringence) mode, and the control pixel operates in the IPS(In-Plain Switching) mode.
