    • A method for processing images of a display device is provided to determine the magnitude and applying time of data voltages by analyzing the contents of images inputted from the outside. Image data of a frame is received and a gray scale value corresponding to the image data is extracted(310,320). By comparing the extracted gray scale value with a reference gray scale value, the number of pixels within a reference gray scale range are counted(330). It is determined whether the image data has one gray scale value or plural gray scale values based on the counted pixel numbers(340,350). When the image data has the one gray scale value, a first voltage is outputted during a first frame sustain time. When the image data has plural gray scale values, a second voltage less than the first voltage is outputted during a second frame sustain time longer than the first frame sustain time(360a,360b,360c). Images are displayed in response to the first and second voltages(370a,370b,370c).

    • An image processing method in a display device is provided to prevent a text file from being damaged in the process of processing the original picture containing a text picture in a dithering technique by dividing a color picture, inputted from the external, into a text picture and an image picture, executing grayscale processing for the pixels corresponding to the text picture according to a quantization technique, and performing grayscale processing for the pixels corresponding to the image picture according to the dithering technique. If a color picture, composed of a text picture and an image picture, is inputted from an external system(S310), a display device extracts the grayscale values of the pixels of the color image according to pixel lines(S320). The display device compares the extracted grayscale values with a preset reference grayscale value and counts the number of each line's pixels within the range of the reference grayscale value(S330). Based on the line-by-line counted pixel numbers, the display device judges whether each line is a text line to display the text picture or an image line to display the image picture(S340). In case an arbitrary line is a text line, the display device quantizes the grayscale value of the pixels of the text line(S350). If an arbitrary line is an image line, the display device dithers the grayscale value of the pixels of the image line(S360). Based on the quantized and dithered grayscale values, the display device displays the color picture.

    • A position sensitive LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to perform a touch screen function only using the existing LCD panel without having an additional touch panel so as to reduce the manufacturing cost. A position sensitive LCD(100) includes an LCD panel(110), a first pulse converter(150), a second pulse converter(160) and a detector. The position sensitive LCD further includes an electronic pen(170) for applying a touch signal to a specific point of the LCD panel. The touch signal is an electromagnetic signal. The LCD panel receives a plurality of gate signals and a plurality of data signals from panel drivers(120,130), displays images, delays a predetermined gate signal and a predetermined data signal and outputs the delayed gate signal and data signal in response to an external touch signal. The first pulse converter receives the gate signals from the LCD panel and converts the gate signal corresponding to the touch signal such that the gate signal has a period longer than the period of other gate signals. The second pulse converter receives the data signals from the LCD panel and converts the data signal corresponding to the touch signal such that the data signal has a period longer than the period of other data signals. The detector receives the gate signals and the data signals from the first and second pulse converters and detects input position information of the touch signal.
