A method for measuring floating height for a slider by electrostatic force in a non-contact manner includes a step of placing the slider having a reading/recording head above a magnetic data storage medium(510); a step of applying a series of voltages between the slider and the magnetic data storage medium(520); a step of recording a read-back based on each voltage of the voltage series(530); a step of standardizing coefficient of an experimental curve-fit equation(540); and a step of changing the standardized coefficient into a measurement of the floating height for the slider. The voltage series includes at least three different voltages(550,560).
