    • A method for operating a food waste treating system and an apparatus for crushing food waste are provided to remove external particles from a crushing unit and check the crushing unit easily, by installing a detachable type crush cover at a lateral wall of a crushing unit so that the crush cover is simply detached from the crushing unit when an operation of the crushing unit is stopped due to the external particles or the crushing unit is to be checked. Food waste, or a plastic bag containing food waste is inputted into an input hoper(11), and transferred to a distributor(12). The distributor is connected to an air pump, and has rotating knife blades. The food waste or the plastic bags containing food waste are crushed to discharge external particles such as plastic bags through an outlet and transfer the food waste to a main crushing unit(20). A plurality of hammer crushers(30) are connected centering a shaft to form a uniform inclination angle within the main crushing unit, wherein the hammer crushers transfer the food waste in one direction and crush the food waste. A crush cover(33) is detachably formed at a lateral wall of the crushing unit. The crushing unit is simply repaired by detaching only the crush cover from the crushing unit when an operation of the crushing unit is stopped due to the external particles or the crushing unit is to be checked. A sieve net is formed on a lower surface of each of the hammer crushers. The small-sized food waste is dropped to a press screw through the sieve net, and the large-sized food waste is caught by the sieve net and crushed by the hammer crusher. The crushed food waste is dehydrated by the press screw, or transferred to a drying process and a fermenting process.
