    • A display device and a driving method thereof are provided to enhance overall brightness of the display device by compensating for image data corresponding to rest sub frames according to grayscales of the image data corresponding to a white sub frame. A backlight sequentially generates red, green, blue, and white beams during red, green, blue, and white sub frames. A controller receives first to fourth image data corresponding to the red, green, blue, and white sub frames, compares the grayscale of the fourth image data with a reference grayscale, compensates for the first to third image data based on the comparison result, and outputs first to third compensated data and the fourth image data. A data driver converts the first to third compensated data to first to third compensated data voltages during the red, green, and blue sub frames, and converts the fourth image data to a data voltage during the white sub frame. A display panel sequentially receives the first to third compensated data voltages during the red, green, and blue sub frames, and receives the data voltage during the white sub frame. The controller includes a receiver(211), a comparator(212), and a compensator(213).
