The chroma circuit controls the brightness of a liquid crystal panel(30) by controlling the variable resistance of the common voltage circuit.

A variable resistor(VR3) being connected between the emitter of the transistor(Q2) and the base the transistor(Q3) for adjusting an ABL brightness is connected to an input power source and a resistor(R5) one end thereof is grounded. Resistors(R6, R7) are connected to among the variable resistor(VR3), a resistor(R5) and the emitter of transistor(Q2). The other end portion of the resistors(R6, R7) are connected to the emitter of transistors(Q4, Q5). The collectors of the transistors(Q4, Q5) are grounded, and the base of the transistors(Q4, Q5) are constructed for inputting a contrast signals(CS1, CS2) for maintaining a screen brightness fixedly according to a horizontal frequency.
