    • PURPOSE: A crack repair method of a component making use of friction stir welding is provided to minimize distortion, residual stress, and deterioration in chemical and physical characteristics by executing repair of a crack without melting a material of a component. CONSTITUTION: A crack repair method of a component making use of friction stir welding includes steps of processing the peripheral surface of a crack to prepare repair(100) and welding a first portion of the component of a first side portion of the crack to a second portion of the component of a second side portion. The crack repair method further includes steps of attaching a patch over a fused crack area; executing friction stir welding at the front end of the component via a tab material; inserting a fixing unit in at least hole bored in the component; fusing at least one hole via a pin; welding at least one hole bored in the component through friction stir plug welding(104); and inserting a temporary plug in the hole bored in the component(102) and welding the crack through friction stir welding(108) and then separating a friction stir welding device from the center of a partial outlet hole(110) and removing the temporary plug from the component(112). In executing friction stir welding of the first portion to the second, friction stir welding is started at the first end of the crack and the friction stir welding is executed via a hole of the second end of the crack, via the second end(124). The crack repair method further includes a process of boring a through hole in the component to enlarge or expand the hole. The crack repair method further includes a process of giving the same load to the sides of the component.
