    • PURPOSE: An apparatus and method is provided to achieve improved signal to noise ratio, while preventing decrease in frame rate by transmitting a wide variety of codes through the use of orthogonality of golay codes. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a storage unit for storing M-number of code sets which are orthogonal with each other, wherein each code set is constituted by M-number of code sequences which have relation of complement number with each other; a transmitter unit(100') for sequentially transmitting, as an ultrasonic transmitting signal, M-number of signals obtained through the combination of code sequences in M-number of code sets, to the corresponding M-number of focusing points in an object; a receiver unit for receiving signals reflected from the corresponding focusing point with respect to the transmitted ultrasonic signal; and an image forming unit(150') for extracting data corresponding to M-number of code sequences in the stored M-number of code sets, processing the extracted data and forming ultrasonic images for the object.

    • The present invention discloses an ultrasound imaging method and apparatus using a plurality of orthogonal Golay codes so that multi-transmission and reception is available and frame rate is not reduced. The ultrasound imaging method and apparatus uses an M number of Golay codes, wherein M is a positive number more than 2, the M number of Golay codes includes M number of code sequences, and the code sequences of the Golay codes are orthogonal to each other. Ultrasound pulse signals are transmit-focused to a focal point. The MxM number of Golay sequences are divided into M number of groups and then the divided Golay sequences are converted into ultrasound pulse signals. The transmit-focusing is then sequentially performed by the respective groups. Reflected signals from the focal point in response to the transmit-focusing is received by each group and receive-focuses. The received signals are pulse compressed and used to form a B-mode image.
