    • PURPOSE: A method and a system for continuously optimizing control variable at operation of reactor are provided to identify the best possible quantitative values for one or more operational control-variables that are collectively associated with the functioning and control of a nuclear reactor core and determine an optimal operational strategy for one or more refueling cycles of the core. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a step of accepting input data(106) for initializing or modifying one or more optimization input parameter values which collectively define a particular reactor operation strategy, a step of computing optimized quantitative values(107) for a plurality of reactor core operational control-variables based on current reactor plant state-point data, wherein the computed optimized quantitative values meet predetermined design constraints for the reactor, and a step of displaying(108), on a display device coupled to the computer or computer network, at least one or more of the computed optimized quantitative control-variable values, the information being indicative of a projected strategy for optimal reactor performance.
