    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide systems and methods that facilitate pilot channel optimization schemes for high data rate communications transmissions.SOLUTION: Pilot channel operations are monitored and controlled by a base station for one or more cooperating wireless terminals such that one or more power features of the one or more cooperating wireless terminals can be changed in response to one or more selected pilot channel operational conditions. A base station engages in one or more selected pilot channel control operations as part of pilot channel optimization comprising a jump detection technique, operating power control on another channel other than the DPCCH, engaging in delayed power control, engaging in soft-handoff power control in the instance of a boosted pilot channel, and resolving ambiguity in grant messages resulting from a pilot boost.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device and a communication system which require reduced work for installation, capable of responding changes of transmission characteristics after the installation.SOLUTION: In a communication device and a communication system, when starting to send a transmission block, a sending side communication device sends a training sequence for waveform equalization between an identification sequence and the above sent data sequence, over a wired transmission line. A receiving side communication device identifies a communication device of the other party with regard to the received transmission block, calculates a tap factor for digital waveform equalization using the received training sequence when the communication device of the other party sends the transmission block, and performs digital waveform equalization and so on using the calculated tap factor on the received transmission block.
