    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel and a manufacturing method of the same which can perform excellent image display at a low voltage.SOLUTION: A plasma display panel comprises: a pair of substrates 21 and 31 arranged to face each other via a space, on which electrodes 24 and 32 for generating discharge are formed on respective inner surfaces; a dielectric layer 26 covering the electrode 24 formed on the one substrate 21 between the pair of substrates 21 and 31; and a protection film 27 covering the dielectric layer 26. The protection film 27 is formed from any one of a calcium oxide, a strontium oxide, a barium oxide and a rare earth oxide, or a mixture of a calcium oxide, a strontium oxide, a barium oxide and a rare earth oxide, or a complex oxide of any one of a calcium oxide, a strontium oxide, a barium oxide and a rare earth oxide with magnesium. The protection film 27 comprises at least either one (28) of iridium or palladium.
