      SOLUTION: In this vertical shaft type door closer, a height adjusting part of a valve pin 14 is provided at the upper end of a body 1, and the height adjusting part is provided with an operating shaft 19 disposed in the diametrical direction of a serration shaft 11 to straddle an upper end recessed part 18 of the serration shaft 11, with both ends rotatably supported to the serration shaft 11. The operating shaft 19 is mounted with the bevel gear 20 meshed with an upper end tooth part 17a of the bevel gear 17 engaged with a valve head 16, with a shaft part 17b rotatably inserted in a center hole part 11e of the serration shaft 11 so that the upper end tooth part 17a is exposed on a bottom part of the recessed part 18, and the back face of the bevel gear 20 indirectly or directly abuts on the inner surface of the recessed part 18.

    • A door closer of simple structure has a stationary shaft (10) and a cylindrical housing (20) secured to a door. The housing (20) has therein a nonrotatable piston (80), an inner communicating passage (83) with a check valve (84) that communicates between a high-pressure oil chamber (81) and a low-pressure oil chamber (82) at the opposite sides of the piston (80), an outer communicating passage (102 and 104) that passes oil from the high-pressure oil chamber (81) toward the low-pressure oil chamber (82) when the piston (80) is displaced from the low-pressure oil chamber (82) side toward the high-pressure oil chamber (81) side, a high-pressure side cam member (91), and a low-pressure side cam member (96). When the housing (20) is rotated by the door being opened, the high-pressure side cam member (91) pushes out the piston (80) from the high-pressure oil chamber (81) side toward the low-pressure oil chamber (82) side. When the door is rotated in a door-closing direction, the low-pressure side cam member (96) pushes out the piston (80) from the low-pressure oil chamber (82) side toward the high-pressure oil chamber (81) side.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the diameter of a speed regulator for a door closer to be mountable in a door.
      SOLUTION: This speed regulator includes: a cylinder 22; a piston 32 in the cylinder; a second chamber 34 which is a high pressure chamber, and a first chamber 36 which is a low pressure chamber, on both sides of the piston; a check valve 40 in a communicating passage 38 for communicating both chambers; an inside tube 42 with one end communicating with the high pressure chamber; and an outside tube 46 having one end in the high pressure chamber 34 and forming an axial passage 44 between itself and the inside tube. One end of the axial passage is sealed and shut off from the high pressure chamber. In association with the closing operation of the door, the piston slides in the outer tube. When the piston moves into a predetermined position, an opening is sealed and shut off from the high pressure chamber and communicates with the low pressure chamber. The speed regulator has a first limiting passage 56 serving for communication between the other end of the inside tube and the axial passage, and a second limiting passage 68 serving for communication between the low pressure chamber and the axial passage.
