    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing unit not deforming a seal due to a pressure of grease when both sides of a bearing are thermally expanded, and a roll for a continuous casting equipment. SOLUTION: In this bearing unit 2, a bearing 3 with a seal is interposed between a shaft 1 and a bearing housing 4, and oil seals 14, 15 are provided on both sides of the bearing 3 with the seal. A space between the bearing housing 4, the shaft 1 and the oil seal 14 is filled with grease 11, and the bearing housing 4, the shaft 1, the oil seal 14, and the free end side oil seal 15 are communicated with each other by a bypass 16. The bypass 16 is formed by a groove formed on at least one of the inside diameter face of the bearing housing 4 and the outside diameter face of the bearing 3, and a space between the seal 8 with the bearing 3, the bearing housing 4 and the free end side oil seal 15 is filled with a foamed solid lubricant 18, whose essential components are a lubricating component and a resin component and which is formed by foaming and solidifying the resin component into a porous form.
