    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an alkylmethylsiloxane which does not substantially contain residual silicon-bound hydrogen, has a high stability, and is useful in the field of personal care, for example, such as skin conditioning.
      SOLUTION: Linear triorganosiloxy endcapped methylhydrogen polysiloxanes are made by forming a reaction mixture containing silanol-free hexaorganodisiloxanes and at least one kind of silanol-free methylhydrogen cyclic siloxanes and having the water content of less than 100 ppm, and by contacting the reaction mixture with anhydrous trifluoromethanesulfonic acid catalyst and agitating the mixture and the catalyst at temperatures lower than 100°C. And further the polysiloxanes and α-olefins are catalytically reacted in the presence of a platinum catalyst until triorganosiloxy endcapped alkylmethylsiloxanes containing residual hydrogen as ≡SiH of less than 200 ppm are produced.
