    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain good winding shape by adjusting returning of a traverse according to the winding shape.
      SOLUTION: A position of a dancer roller and a measurement value are measured every one rotation of a bobbin at a central part of the bobbin during traverse. A plurality of measurements are performed and their average value and standard deviation are calculated to determine a threshold value. At a part near a flange, the dancer roller position and the measurement value are measured every one rotation of the bobbin and the amount of change is calculated from difference from the average value. The amount of change is compared with the threshold value. When the amount of change exceeds the threshold value, it is determined that the winding shape is varied and a change position where variation is started is detected. When one reciprocation is performed in the traverse and the winding shape at the parts near the flanges at both sides is finished to be determined, returning adjustment is performed during subsequent traverse. In the case of thick winding, returning is performed at a position near a center more than the change position. In the case of thin winding, deceleration is performed from the change position and returning is performed at a returning reference position.
