    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tooth flank machining device, along with a gear production method, capable of adjusting a machining pressure to improve a surface roughness of a high hard gear.SOLUTION: A tooth flank treatment device 10 has: a helical grinding wheel 2; a position adjusting means 3 that can move a relative position between a rotary shaft C of the helical grinding wheel 2 and a rotary shaft X of a work gear W; and a control means 7 having a relative position control unit 71 for operating the position adjusting means 3 so that the helical grinding wheel 2 is engaged with the work gear W, by adjusting the relative position between the rotary shaft C of the helical grinding wheel 2 and the rotary shaft X of the work gear W, and by bringing only one work tooth flank 11 among tooth flanks forming one tooth of the work gear W into abutment with a grinding wheel tooth flank 21 of the helical grinding wheel 2, a grinding wheel rotating means control unit 72 for operating a grinding wheel rotating means 4, and a torque control means control unit 73 for operating a rotation torque control means 5 to adjust a rotational torque to a predetermined range.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To machine gear teeth, whose tooth flanks deviate from their specified geometry by a machining allowance.SOLUTION: The machining allowance is removed through an infeed of at least two infeed steps, each of which is followed by a machining pass with a profiling tool. The profiling tool, after it has been set to a position at the angle at which the plane of rotation of the tool is tilted against the axis of the gear wheel, is brought into engagement with the gear wheel, wherein after each infeed step, the material within the resultant engagement area of the tool is removed, wherein after the last infeed step, with a tilt angle setting of the profiling tool that is determined by the design angle of the latter, the area of tool engagement extends over the entire tooth-flank height, so that the next machining pass will remove the amount of material required to attain the specified geometry. In at least one infeed step which precedes the last infeed step, the profiling tool is set to a tilt angle which deviates from the angle that the tool was designed for and which results in a tool engagement area which, in comparison to the setting at the designed angle, is enlarged in the direction of the tooth-flank height.
