    • PURPOSE:To change radioactivity containing matters or matters of environmental pollution into very small particles or lumps of ceramics or metal to reduce their sizes to the limit and dispose of them easily by burning and melting completely radioactivity containing matters or matters of environmental pollution with their vessels by means of the multi-phase multi-electrode arcs in water. CONSTITUTION:Matters polluted by radioactivity are put into a drum can 14 outside a water tank 1, and the drum can 14 is installed by a clamping member 12. The drum can 14 is placed into the water tank 1 and a lid body 2 is fixed to the water tank 1. Then a motor 18 is rotated to lower the drum can 14 until its bottom face is substantially opposite to the electrodes 16a-16c. A three-phase electric power source 17 is turned ON to generate arcs among the electrodes 16a-16c. As the arcs are irradiated to the drum can 14, the motor 18 is rotated to lower the drum can 14, and the latter is heated to temperature above about 4000 deg.C and melted with its content. With this arrangement the matters of environmental pollution are completely burned with the drum can 14 and they become small particles and fall and settle in the water and they are accumulated in a vessel 7 through the hole section 9 that is formed in a partition plate 8. The accumulated particles are thrown away in a vessel 42 by opening contact plug 41.

    • PURPOSE:To minimize external turbulence in micro-gravity and permit the effective treatment of material as well as the non-vessel treatment of the material by a method wherein light beams, emitted spherically from a plasma lamp placed at the first focus of a rotary elliptic mirror spherically, are collected spherically on a specimen placed at the second focus of the same mirror to heat the specimen. CONSTITUTION:In an annular electrode type electrostatic suspended furnace, a voltage is impressed from a high-voltage power supply 5 on an annular electrode 12 to suspend a specimen 2 in electrostatic field. In this case, a position detector 13 detects the suspended position of the specimen 2 and transmits an analog signal to a control circuit 15, then, the control circuit 15 operates the amount of control to transmits it to the high-voltage power supply 5 and, therefor, high-speed position control can be effected. Next, high-frequency is poured to a plasma lamp 7 through a connecting window 18, then, resonance is generated in a cavity resonator 10 and electromagnetic energy is acted on gas in the plasma lamp 7 whereby the plasma lamp is produced. The light of the plasma lamp is emitted spherically and, thereafter, is collected by a rotary elliptical mirror 6 at the second focus thereof spherically substantially. When a specimen 2 is placed in such an atmosphere and is heated, the light is projected against the surface of the specimen uniformly and, therefore, the temperature of the surface of the specimen can be unified. On the other hand, the specimen 2 can be heated by light having a wavelength meeting the optical characteristics of the specimen 2.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain better machining efficiency by repeating mechanical and electric machining on a work to be machined which is inserted in a hole with an electrolytic discharging grindstone in which nonconductive grinding belt and conductive belt are alternately disposed on the inner circumferential face of a central hole of disc type metal sheet. CONSTITUTION:A grindstone 1 is set on a grindstone cover 14 and the tip of a work to be machined M is put in a machining hole A. Power supply unit is connected to the grindstone and the work to be machined M. The grindstone is given rotation and machining liquid is supplied from a nozzle 8. Electrolytic action and discharging action, and mechanical grinding action are generated between the grindstone and the work to be machined. As the result, multiple machining effect is given and better machining can be made on the work, and highly precise and more efficient machining can be realized.
