    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens having high magnification and high numerical aperture and capable of excellently compensating various aberrations over wide visual fields by specifying the constitution of a lens group and also the condition of the refractive index of the 1st lens group. SOLUTION: The 1st lens group G1 is composed of a compound lens obtained by bonding a plano-convex lens and a meniscus lens whose convex surface faces to an image side in order from an object side. The 2nd and the 3rd lens groups G2 and G3 are constituted of a single lens which has positive refractive power and whose surface having the stronger refractive power faces to the image side. The 4th, the 5th and the 6th lens groups G4, G5 and G6 are composed of a compound lens obtained by combining a negative lens and a positive lens. The 7th and the 8th lens groups G7 and G8 are composed of the compound lens obtained by bonding the positive lens and the negative lens, and have meniscus shapes whose convex surfaces face to the object side. Then, an expression: n12-n11>0.26 is satisfied. Provided that n11 means the refractive index of the plano-convex lens of the 1st lens group G1 to a d-line and n12 means the refractive index of the meniscus lens of the 1st lens group G1 to the d-line.
