    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relate to a method for producing oxygen-containing organic compounds and to an oxidation catalyst composition and provide oxidation reactions with industrial advantage. SOLUTION: In this method for producing oxygen-containing organic compounds, (1) an oxidizing agent and an organic compound are allowed to react with each other in the presence of a mixture of selenium compound, a nitrogen-containing aromatic compound and an acid; (2) a production method according to (1) wherein the oxidizing agent is an organic hydroperoxide and the organic compound is an olefin bearing two or more hydrogen atoms on the carbon atom on the α-position to the carbon-carbon double bond and the oxygen-containing organic compound is an α-hydroxy-olefins and/or α-oxo-olefins; and (3) a production method according to (1) wherein the oxidizing agent is hydrogen peroxide, the organic compound is a cycloalkanone and the oxygen-containing organic compound is a cycloalkanecarboxylic acid.
