    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a carbonyl compound which permits easy manufacture of the carbonyl compound.
      SOLUTION: The carbonyl compound is manufactured by reacting a thiocarbonyl compound with a molecular oxygen in a polar solvent in the presence of a catalyst comprising at least one selected from the group consisting of group 8 metals, group 9 metals, group 10 metals and group 11 metals in the periodic table. The carbonyl compound is also manufactured by reacting a selenocarbonyl compound with molecular oxygen in the presence of the above-mentioned catalyst in the polar solvent. The molecular oxygen acts as an oxidizing agent of the thiocarbonyl compound or the selenocarbonyl compound to effect the desulfurizing oxidation reaction or the deselenizing oxidation reaction.
