In order to manufacture the cushioning material 1, a foaming agent and a first base polymer are kneaded to obtain a first polymer composition. Then, the first polymer composition is pulverized to obtain the granular bodies 3. Thereafter, the granular bodies 3, the foaming agent 3 and a second base polymer having a lower softening point than that of the first base polymer are kneaded to obtain a second polymer composition composed of the granular bodies 3 and the matrix 2 which are mutually different in the color tinge. Then, the second polymer composition is heated to foam the foaming agent in the granular bodies 3 and the foaming agent in the matrix 2.

The method assures macroscopic and microscopic mixing operations to higher extent and thus is most suitable for the vulcanizer blending operation of rubber for hard tire, etc., in particular.
