    • PURPOSE:To enable the processing of a small shaft workpiece on a device for turning the end of a crankshaft or the like, by securing a work spindle heat to a bed, and moving both tailstocks in the same direction rightward and leftward synchronously with each other. CONSTITUTION:Tailstocks 2, 2 are synchronously moved rightward by a cylinder 12. A center shaft 2a on the left-hand tailstock 2 is inserted into the rotary sleeve 5 of a work spindle head 3. The right-hand tailstock 2 is slightly moved back rightward by a clamping cylinder 13. A workpiece W is inserted in between both the tailstocks 2, 2. The right-hand tailstock 2 is moved leftward to pinch and hold the workpiece W between both center shafts 2a, 2a. Both the tailstocks 2, 2 are then synchronously moved leftward to insert the halfway portion of the workpiece W into the rotary sleeve 5 to clamp the workpiece. This constitution enables the processing of even a small workpiece.
