    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the uneven sticking of muddy soil applied to potatoes and improve the commodity value thereof, by drying the potatoes with the muddy soil, brushing the dried potatoes with brush rolls, and redrying the brushed potatos. CONSTITUTION:Muddy soil is applied to the surfaces of washed potatoes, and the potatoes are then passed through a drying apparatus 1 while being transferred. The potatoes are then transferred over ethe tops of brush rolls 2 and brushed to spread the muddy soil stuck to the surfaces of the potatoes evenly. The potatoes are redried in a drying apparatus 3. The drying apparatuses 1 and 3 are equipped with conveyors 18 and 22 for transferring the potatoes, wind ducts 19 and 23 for jetting and supplying hot air and blowers 20 and 24. The potatoes washed in a water tank 5 are coated with muddy water sent from a nozzle 10 in a muddy soil application apparatus 12.
