    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a characteristic of a piezoelectric element included in an oscillator, especially a series resistance value of equivalent constant, without using a measuring device to be connected to the outside. SOLUTION: The oscillator for driving and oscillating the piezoelectric element with an oscillating circuit determines the characteristic of a piezoelectric element included in the oscillator, especially the series resistance value of equivalent constant of the piezoelectric element, based on the voltage/current relation between an output signal of the oscillating circuit included in the oscillator and a drive signal used when the oscillating circuit drives the piezoelectric element. The oscillator comprises the piezoelectric element, the oscillating circuit for feeding back the drive signal to a drive end of the piezoelectric element and exciting and driving the piezoelectric element, and a drive signal switch circuit for controlling an output of the drive signal of the oscillating circuit to the outside. The oscillating circuit controls the piezoelectric element at constant voltage or constant current. The drive signal switch circuit outputs drive current or drive voltage of the drive signal of the oscillating circuit as a signal for calculating the series resistance value of the equivalent constant of the piezoelectric element.
