    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve driving device for a motor-operated expansion valve having a welding heat avoiding mechanism. SOLUTION: A gear 20A engaging with a pinion 17 controls the opening/ closing of a communication hole 25A of an outflow pipe 28A while controlling the rotating angle of a valve element 24A in slide contact with a valve seat 23 of a valve seat plate 13. During welding for sealing the valve seat plate 13 to a case body 14 with an outer periphery S, a hook portion 20b at the upper part of the gear is locked to a locking portion 34 and the valve element 24A is set apart from the valve seat 23. The valve element 24A is protected against welding heat by an air layer 50 existing in a space to the valve seat plate 13. After spontaneous cooling, a pinion 17 is electrically remote-controlled to make the gear 20A rotated and released. An elastic arm portion 35d sets the gear 20A apart from the locking portion 34 with energizing force and makes the valve element 24A in press contact with the valve seat 23 for smoothly functioning opening/closing operation.
