    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader that can stably keep read accuracy without causing a change in the angle of a reflection means even when the image reader receives a thermal effect from a heat source at reading, and to provide an image forming device. SOLUTION: Thermal deformation is large at a side C of the image reader at which an inverter 31 exists and small at a side D, a mirror support in a 2nd optical carriage B is supported for the side C by one-point and for the side D by two points, two projections at the side D receiving small thermal deformation decide an angle of a reflection mirror 8. Since the side C with large thermal deformation adopts one-point support, even when the angle of the side C of the mirror support is changed, the change gives no effect on the angle of the reflection mirror 8 so as to suppress the change in the angle of the reflection mirror 8 small when the temperature of a 2nd optical carriage B rises during reading thereby suppressing degraded read accuracy due to thermal deformation of the 2nd optical carriage B.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce generation of fogging or shining in the case where a light guide is expanded by heat.SOLUTION: A light guide includes a plurality of boss parts. In the vicinity of the center of a base part 201 for fixing the light guide, round holes 211a, 211b are provided and in both end portions, slits 213a, 213b, 213c, 213d are provided. The round holes 211a, 211b support the boss parts both in a length direction and in a width direction of the light guide. The slits 213a, 213b, 213c, 213d support the boss parts in the width direction of the light guide but do not support them in the length direction. Namely, since the center of the light guide is fixed in both the directions, both the end portions of the light guide are expanded to escape with respect to the length direction. Thus, influences of expansion can be reduced by half.
