    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an information processor capable of extracting a code corresponding to a prescribed image area corresponding to the purpose of whether or not to perform appropriate wavelet inverse transformation in the information processor for which the prescribed image area is specified; an information processing method; a program; and a recording medium. SOLUTION: The information processor divides an image into rectangular areas, performs frequency transformation to the pixels of the divided rectangular areas, performs division into rectangular sections for a coefficient after the frequency transformation, and stores a code which is entropy encoded on the basis of the divided sections. The information processor includes: a reception means 201 for receiving the prescribed image area in the image; an extraction means 202 for combining one, two or more sections corresponding to the image area received by the reception means into a first section group and extracting the code of the first section group; and a selection means 204 capable of deciding whether or not to extract the code of the section which affects the decoding of the code of the first section group together with the code extracted by the extraction means.
