    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle motor preventing the lowering of the fixing strength of a magnetic member to a base member and preventing the generation of the deformation of a portion that faces a magnet for the magnetic member, even in use over a long term.
      SOLUTION: A stationary portion for the spindle motor 102 includes the base member 131 and the magnetic member 134. The magnetic member 134 is fixed onto the base member 131 at the lower position of the magnet 143. The magnetic member 134 includes an annular plate 134a, arranged to the top face of the base member 131 and a projection 134b, extending in the axial direction from the plate 134a. At least a portion of the projection 134b is pressed into the wall surface of the base member 131. Consequently, the fixing strength in use over a prolonged term is less apt to be made lower than that in fixing by only an adhesive. Since the projection 134b is pressed in, deformation by press-in is less apt to occur in the plate of the magnetic member 134.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise caused by rolling of balls in a chucking device having a plurality of balls rollable in a circumferential direction.
      SOLUTION: The chucking device 104 is equipped with: a disk support unit 136 on which a disk is placed; a resin-made turntable 134 configured to directly or indirectly support the disk support unit from a lower side; a metal member 132 having a circular plate portion closely secured to the lower surface of the turntable; and a plurality of balls 135 arranged to roll around a center axis in a circumferential direction below the turntable and above the circular plate portion. The turntable has: a lower rolling surface 142a for supporting the plurality of balls via an antiskid member from the lower side; and a cylindrical side rolling surface 144a located radially outwards of the plurality of balls. The circular plate portion of the metal member is closely secured to the lower surface of the resin-made turntable, and hence amplitude of sound generated by ball rolling is reduced. Thus, noise of the chucking device is reduced.

      SOLUTION: The present invention provides a magnetic disk device which uses a plurality of screws of different weights for fastening a disk clamp, and which combines the screws of different weights in such a manner to eliminate weight imbalance. Accordingly, the device does not use extra components such as a weight for eliminating the weight imbalance, thereby achieving cost reduction.

The ratio Yr/Bd of the radius (Yr), defined by the distance between the center of the rotation shaft and an outer surface of the yoke, to the diameter Bd of the ball is in the range from 4.6 to 4.9 to reduce vibration of the rotor and the turn table.
