    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relatively move a tool rest and a workpiece in a short time along a short moving path having no possibility of interference when a tool used for machining is changed over. SOLUTION: A tool feed drive unit 68 is provided to relatively move the tool rest and workpiece on a first shaft and a second shaft intersecting the first shaft and also to relatively revolve the workpiece along the periphery of the tool rest by overlapping the relative movement of the tool rest and workpiece in both shaft directions. A CPU 56, a RAM 58 and the like set a moving boundary circular arc relatively movable without causing the interference of the workpiece with the tool rest in a portion where the first shaft overlaps with the second shaft. The CPU 56, RAM 58 and the like control the movement of the tool feed drive unit 68 so that the workpiece is relatively moved from the first shaft to the second shaft through the outer moving locus of the moving boundary circular arc along the periphery of the tool rest.     • PURPOSE:To make display and interference check on a tool form practicable without requiring touching state of the cutting edge of the tool, by setting up a tool form subjected to graphic display according to the size/form data of a desired tool selected from a memory and also a tool barrier form used for interference check. CONSTITUTION:When an operator inputs, into a tool form selector unit 3, ''a coarse cut outer diameter'' and a mar, '' '' as the class of machining and the direction of cut respectively by means of key board 1 said selector unit 3 will select tool form data TF from a tool form memory 4 and transfer them to a graphic form setting unit 5 and a tool barrier form setting unit 6. Then, the tool size data TL, namely an amount of projection of tool and a width thereof are combined with the form data TF in a form setting unit 5 to establish the tool form to be displayed, and displayed on CRT9 via a graphic display unit 7. Similaly, the barrier form setting unit 6 will establish a barrier form TB in a form of covering a tool T based upon the form data TF and size data TL and said barrier form TB is utilized in a tool interference checking unit 8 for interference check. Accordingly, both display and interference check can be carried out without requiring touching state of the cutting edge.
