    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically obtain a parting line for the cavity core division of die design and to improve the efficiency of work by obtaining the parting line based on the direction of a surface for constituting an object to be prepared by a die.
      SOLUTION: A product model for obtaining the parting line is selected (ST1), all the surfaces for constituting the model are taken out (ST2), the direction of the normal line is obtained for the respective surfaces (ST3) and the respective surfaces are classified by the direction of the normal line. The upward pull-out direction of the die is defined as the positive direction of a Z axis. The respective surfaces are classified into a set S+ when the Z component of the normal line of the surface is positive, the set S- when it is negative and the set S0 otherwise (ST4). A processing for searching the surfaces provided with the same edge as the surfaces belonging to the S- among the surfaces belonging to the S0, moving them to S- and moving the remaining to the S+ is performed (ST6). The boundary of the surfaces belonging to the S- and the surfaces belonging to the S+ is obtained and defined as the parting line (ST7). They become plural closed loops.
