    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structural color body capable of expanding an angle area for observing a structural color and allowing an observer to observe diversified structural colors according to an observation angle.SOLUTION: A structural color body 1 is a film-like body and comprises: a front surface layer 10 disposed on a front surface 1a side; a back surface layer 20 disposed on a back surface 1b side; and an intermediate layer 30 disposed between the front surface layer 10 and the back surface layer 20. The front surface layer 10, the back surface layer 20 and the intermediate layer 30 contain block copolymers and have micro-phase separated structures including lamellar microdomains. Each of the microdomains has a wave-like shape having amplitudes in the thickness direction D1 of the structural color body 1. Maximum values of predetermined distances d1 and d2 in microdomains 12 and 22 of the front surface layer 10 and the back surface layer 20 are larger than the wavelength in the visible light range, and a predetermined distance d3 in a microdomain 32 of the intermediate layer 30 is equal to or less than the wavelength in the visible light range.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element which transmits or reflects light having a specified wavelength by using resonant reflection by a fine irregular structure smaller than the wavelength of incident light, and a refractive index sensor using the same.
      SOLUTION: The optical element 30 has a structure configured such that a periodic structure comprising fine irregularities of a grid layer 33 is spatially varied in structure width (a) (while a period Λ is made constant or while a refractive index is made constant), and transmits or reflects the light having the specified wavelength by using the resonant reflection by the fine irregular structure smaller than the wavelength of the incident light. The refractive index sensor includes the optical element (resonant filter) 30 which resonates and reflects the incident light having the specified wavelength as the periodic structure comprising the fine irregularities smaller than the wavelength of the incident light resonates with the incident light, and an optical detector which detects the transmitted light or reflected light from the optical element, wherein the periodic structure comprising the fine irregularities is spatially varied in structure width (a) with the constant period or (with the constant refractive index), and the refractive index of an irregular peripheral part is detected from the position of a structure width where the incident light is resonated and reflected.
