    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for separating air capable of reducing the rate of consumption of power and of collecting argon. SOLUTION: Stock air is partly liquefied on an air condensation passage 51 and is separated into nitrogen rich air and oxygen argon rich air (1). The nitrogen rich air is distilled on a nitrogen distillation passage 52 and is separated into product middle pressure nitrogen where nitrogen is concentrated and nitrogen contents where nitrogen concentration is low (2). The nitrogen contents and the oxygen argon rich air are distilled in a nitrogen distillation tower 6, and are separated to product low pressure nitrogen where nitrogen is concentrated and argon containing coarse oxygen where oxygen and argon are concentrated (3). The argon containing coarse oxygen is distilled on an oxygen distillation passage 53, and is separated to an argon oxygen stock (4). The argon oxygen stock is distilled in an argon distillation tower 7, and is separated to an argon condensate and product liquefied oxygen (5).

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for producing argon by low-temperature air separation, improving the yield and purity of a product, and economically and advantageously operated at reduced maintenance costs and equipment expenses.
      SOLUTION: Charge air (1) is compressed and introduced to nitrogen/oxygen separation distillation tower equipment (13, 14). An argon-containing flow (72) is taken out of the distillation tower equipment and sent to a crude argon tower (25). The crude argon tower (25) has an overhead condenser (24), and overhead gas in the crude argon tower (25) is at least partially condensed in the overhead condenser. Condensate is sent to the crude argon tower (25) as a reflux, crude argon flows (76, 176, 276a, 276b) taken out of the crude argon tower (25) or the overhead condenser (24) are introduced to a pure argon tower (20), and a pure argon product flow (81) is taken out of the pure argon tower (20). The overhead condenser (24) of the crude argon tower (25) is composed as a reflux condenser, and the overhead gas in the crude argon tower is condensed in the reflux channel of the reflux condenser and made to serve as the only reflux.
