    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a natural gas engine which includes a natural gas fuel injection device for injecting light oil fuel as an ignition source into a combustion chamber and injecting natural gas fuel into an intake system passage, and in which the natural gas fuel can be reliably and stably ignited even in a low-load operation state and in stoichiometric or rich combustion to actualize highly efficient combustion with less fuel and less intake air, and to provide an operation method for the same.SOLUTION: A natural gas engine 10 injects natural gas fuel C into an intake system passage 12 and injects light oil fuel f as an ignition source into a cylinder to actualize the combustion of the natural gas fuel C with the compression ignition of the light oil fuel f injected into the cylinder without using a spark ignition system in the ignition of the natural gas fuel C. It includes an exhaust gas introduction mechanism for introducing exhaust gas G into the cylinder during an intake stroke.
