    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing an electric furnace dust, comprising compressing molding a powdery mixture of an electric furnace dust, produced in an electric furnace for steelmaking, with a carbon material to prepare a briquette which is then heat reduced in a rotary hearth furnace, in this method, briquette strength high enough to withstand handling in a stage from after molding to charging into the rotary hearth furnace can be ensured, and energy necessary for drying the briquette can be reduced while preventing bursting within the rotary hearth furnace.
      SOLUTION: This method comprises: a step of adding and mixing a carbon material B, a binder C and optionally water into an electric furnace dust A produced within an electric furnace 1 for steelmaking to produce a powdery mixture D having a water content of 0.5 to 3% by mass; and a step of compressing molding the powdery mixture D with a briquette machine 4 to produce a raw briquette E, charging the raw briquette E as such without drying into a rotary hearth furnace 5, and heat reducing to produce a reduced iron briquette F and a crude zinc oxide G.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing pig iron by using iron ore with a high content of zinc, which can effectively use the iron ore with the high content of zinc and can solve a problem that both of zinc and iron are in short supply. SOLUTION: The method for producing the pig iron by using the iron ore with the high content of zinc includes: producing a raw material 2 for a blast furnace by using the iron ore with the high content of zinc, which contains 0.01 mass% or more zinc and 50 mass% or more iron; producing the pig iron by charging the raw material 2 for the blast furnace into the blast furnace 1; also collecting zinc-containing dust 4 contained in a gas exhausted from the blast furnace; and collecting zinc 6 from the zinc-containing dust 4 by using a reducing furnace 5. The raw material 2 for the blast furnace is preferably a sintered ore or a pellet. It is also preferable to load the zinc-containing dust 4 on a mobile hearth, supply heat from an upper part of the mobile hearth to reduce the zinc-containing dust 4, and collect the zinc 6 along with producing reduced iron 7.
