    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently separate heavy metals from a cement production process without affecting the quality of cement, with securing the safety of a cement production apparatus and without increasing an environmental load. SOLUTION: A substance C containing fixed carbon is supplied from a section from a kiln middle of a cement kiln 5 to the lowest stage cyclone of a preheater attached to the kiln 5, a part of a combustion gas is extracted from a kiln exhaust gas channel from the inlet 5a of the kiln 5 to the lowest stage cyclone 7, dust contained in the combustion gas is collected, and then heavy metals are separated from the collected dust. When the amount of a fixed carbon in the substance C which is thrown in from the section per unit time is set to be α in throwing the substance C in and the amount of heavy metals carried into the kiln 5 per unit time is set to be β, α/β is preferably made to be between 10 and 40. It is more preferable that the chlorine concentration of the collected dust is controlled to be 5-40 mass% and the CaO concentration is controlled to be 5-50 mass%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the quantity of POPs contained in the combustion exhaust gas of a cement kiln while resin-based wastes such as waste plastics and the like are utilized as fuels for cement firing. SOLUTION: Wastes containing an aromatic resin are charged into the front end 15 of a cement kiln 4 and wastes containing an aliphatic resin are charged into the back end 14 of the cement kiln 4 and/or a calcining furnace 3. The generating amount of the POPs is reduced comparing with a conventional one that the position of utilization according to the kind of a resin is not selective since the resynthesis of DXNs by incomplete combustion is avoidable beforehand because of preventing the incomplete combustion by combusting wastes containing the aromatic resin having a monocyclic or polycyclic aromatic structure being hardly decomposable at the front end 15 of the cement kiln 4.
