    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a liquid crystal lens such that even when a thin plate glass is used as a glass plate dividing a liquid crystal layer, cracking of the thin plate glass in a manufacturing process is reduced, and the liquid crystal lens.SOLUTION: There is provided a manufacturing method of manufacturing a liquid crystal lens 10 which changes orientation states of liquid crystal molecules by applying an electric field to liquid crystal layers 19a, 19b, and 19c sandwiched between a pair of transparent substrates 11, 12, the liquid crystal layers 19a, 19b, and 19c being divided by thin plate glasses 13, 14 arranged substantially in parallel to the transparent substrates 11, 12. In the manufacturing method of manufacturing the liquid crystal lens 10, a mother liquid crystal lens having a plurality of liquid crystal lens units arrayed along the length is cut by the liquid crystal lens units to take the liquid crystal lens units out. Side faces 13c, 13d and 14c, 14d extending along lengths of glass ribbons forming the thin plate glasses 13, 14 have curved surface shapes which swell outward as sectional shapes perpendicular to the length directions.
