    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve mileage by suppressing a power loss in a system, while ensuring required operability, in a motor driving system for electric vehicles. SOLUTION: In the motor driving system for an electric vehicle which comprises a converter for DC voltage conversion and an inverter for converting the output voltage of the converter into an AC voltage, a controller determines a request for torque response about whether or not the electric vehicle is in a state of requiring a torque high response (S100). Furthermore, the controller sets the voltage range of the converter in a range to which sine wave PWM control is applied, in a drivability-priority mode (YES in S110) in which torque high response is required (S200). On the other hand, in a mileage-priority mode in which the torque high response is not required, the voltage command of the converter is set so that the power loss in the entire motor driving system is minimized, based on the operating state of the AC motor (S150).
