    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a four-wheel drive device for a vehicle capable of transmitting the driving force to a non-slipping wheel by limiting the differential rotation of a differential mechanism.
      SOLUTION: The four-wheel drive device for a vehicle has a center differential mechanism and a front wheel side axle differential mechanism. The center differential mechanism is constituted of a first planetary gear device 10 consisting of an output gear body 50, a first carrier 13 integrated therewith, a first sun gear 11, a first ring gear 14, and a drive gear body 55 having a rear wheel drive gear 15 which is a helical gear integrally formed on the outer periphery thereof. A differential limit device C to give the rotational resistance to reduce the differential rotation between the output gear body 50 and the drive gear body 55 is arranged between the output gear body 50 (an input rotational member) and the drive gear body 55 (an output rotational member).

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential limiting device enabling a reduction in size.
      SOLUTION: This differential limiting device is formed so that helical gear teeth are formed on the surfaces of pinion gears 30, a ring gear 40, and a sun gear 50, and the ring gear 40 is disposed on the same axis as that of the sun gear 50 rotatably relative to each other. The helical teeth of the pinion gears 30 mesh with the helical gear teeth of both the sun gear 50 and the ring gear 40. A carrier 20 is disposed on the same axis as that of the sun gear 50 rotatably relative to the sun gear 50 and the ring gear 40, and rotatably supports the pinion gears 30. The ring gear 40 is so formed that the carrier 20 and the ring gear 50 are held by first side wall part 45 and a second side wall part 46 extended to the radial inner side. Thus, a thrust reaction generating for developing differential limiting function can be held without installing a housing for covering the ring gear 40 from the outside.
