    • PURPOSE:To perform satisfactory build-up welding under wide welding conditions in horizontal electroslag build-up welding, by performing the build-up welding by using a consumable electrode and a flux in a water-cooled frame. CONSTITUTION:A flux 3 is sprayed and electric current is supplied to an electrode 1 through a tip 7 from a conductor 6 at a welding head side. The flux 3 melts between the electrode 1 and a conductor 5 on the earth side, and the electrode 1 is melted and overlaid by the Joule heat of the molten slag 15 of a high temp. generated by said melting. Build-up beads 14 and solidified slag 4 are formed according to the progression of the welding, but the rear side in the welding direction W of a water-cooled frame 8 is made into the construction having no side walls; therefore, the frame 8 does not contact with the slag 4 and the beads 14, thus eliminating the possibility of deviating the welding speed.

    • PURPOSE:To enable stable and uniform electroslag build-up welding with a beltlike electrode by feeding electricity uniformly to the broad beltlike electrode through power feed tips which are divided to a multiple number of three and are connected to an electric power source of three-phase AC for welding. CONSTITUTION:The degree of melting of a beltlike electrode 1 to be supplied with feed rolls (not shown) and power feed tips 9 roughly perpendicularly over a base material 4 is regulated with the varying amplitude of electric current by using a constant voltage power source in horizontal electroslag build-up welding with the beltlike electrode wherein said electrode is melted by Joule heat in the molten slag 2 formed from a flux 6 sprayed on the material 4 to form a molten pool 5 and build-up beads 3 are formed successively in accordance with the progression of welding in an arrow direction. Terminals R, S, T of a three-phase AC electric power source are connected successively to power feed tips (r), (s), (t) 9 divided to three or the multiple thereof to deviate the peaks of the currents at the respective power feed tips by a 120 deg. phase, whereby the supply of electricity to the electrode 1 is made uniform and stable molten slag 2 is formed.

    • PURPOSE:To perform build-up welding of high quality and high performance under controlled depth of penetration of base metals by supplying multiphase AC electric current to plural barlike consumable electrodes having a large section, and continuously adding molten metal to a slag bath surface while rotating the base metals. CONSTITUTION:A roll base metal 1 is set to a rotary table 8, and plural pieces of barlike consumable electrodes 2 having a large section are suspended on the circumference in the clearance between a water-cooled copper mold 7 and the base metal 1. The electroslag welding is started by charging molten slag 4 and supplying multiphase AC electric current to the electrodes 2; at the same time, the base metal 1 is rotated. When the surface of the base metal 1 begins to melt, the molten metal 3 of the same components as those of the electrodes 2 is inserted from a tundish 8, and is added continuously to the slag bath 4. This molten metal 3 mixes with the molten metal from the electrodes 2, thereby forming a metal pool 5. The metal pool 5 is cooled by the water-cooled mold 7 and solidifies to overlay metal 6. With the progression of welding, the mold 7 and the tundish 8 are moved upward.
