    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a steel bent member with higher productivity and more excellent dimensional accuracy than those of a conventional heating/bending apparatus.SOLUTION: This bending apparatus 10 includes: a first support mechanism 11 for supporting a steel pipe 17 while feeding the steel pipe; a heating mechanism 13 for heating a part or the whole of the steel pipe 17; a cooling mechanism 14 for forming a high temperature portion in a part of the steel pipe 17 by cooling the portion heated by the heating mechanism 13 of the steel pipe 17; a second support mechanism 25 for bending the steel pipe 17 into a desired shape by imparting a bending moment to the high-temperature portion by moving the steel pipe 17 in the two-dimensional or a three-dimensional direction while supporting at least one place of the pipe 17; and a deformation preventing mechanism 16 for preventing the deformation of the steel pipe 17. At least either of the second supporting mechanism 25 and/or the deformation preventing mechanism 16 has a tubular body having a circular, polygonal or irregularly shaped cross section and has a chuck for grasping the steel pipe 17.

The feeding mechanism 11 is constituted of a first industrial robot 18 which is a vertical multi-joint robot having seven axes.
