    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a Rhodamine dye having a suitable granular form and a remarkably low content of an ungranulated powder by mixing a Rhodamine dye solution and a salt solution each of which is prepared by dissolution in water and/or a solvent at a high temperature and cooling the mixture in a molten state. SOLUTION: A solution prepared by dissolving Rhodamine dye in at least either water or a solvent at a high temperature, desirably, 55-98 deg.C and having a high concentration, desirably, 20-60 wt.% is mixed with a solution prepared by dissolving a salt in at least either water or a solvent at a high temperature, desirably, 60-98 deg.C and having a high concentration, desirably, 10-25 wt.% to form a mixed solution having a temperature of, desirably, at least 60 deg.C and being in a molten state, i.e., a state in which the dye takes an oily form and is separated from the aqueous medium. The solvent used is exemplified by an aliphatic alcohol, an aromatic alcohol, a ketone, an ester, an ether, an amine, or an organic acid, and the salt used is exemplified by NaCl, KCl, ZnCl2, or NH4Cl.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recording solution that has high storage stability, excellent fastness of the recorded image to light and excellent hue for color reproducibility and is particularly suitable as an ink-jet recording ink of magenta color by allowing an ink composition to contain a specific pigment. SOLUTION: This recording ink contains a pigment represented by formula I [R1 is sulfonic acid group, carboxyl or the like; R2 is H, methyl or the like; R3 is H, an aryl or the like; X, Y are each -NR4 R5 or -OR7 (R4 , R5 are each H, a 2 -6C alkyl substituted with sulfone group or the like; R7 is H, a 1-6C alkyl) or the like]. As a pigment of formula I, is preferably a compound in a free acid form represented by formula II (R8 is H or a 1-6C alkyl; (n) is 2-6). The pigment of formula I is prepared, for example, by allowing a monoazo pigment to react with cyanuric chloride as adding apueous solution of a monoazo pigment dropwise to an apueous dispersion of cyanuric chloride at a pH of 2-4 and a temperature of 10-15 deg.C, permitting the product to condense with taurine at a pH of 5-6 and a temperature of 40-50 deg.C followed by condensation reaction of the product with diethanolamine at a temperature of 70-80 deg.C.
