    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backrest attaching device of a chair in which a backrest part is supported by backrest rods attached to a seat part, capable of firmly attaching the backrest part to the upper ends of the backrest rods made of a lightweight metal pipe by dispersing the stress, with a small number of processing man-hours, excellent in the durability, and capable of contributing to the cost reduction.SOLUTION: Each backrest rod 4 is made of a metal cylindrical pipe. The base end of a rising part 43 thereof is press-molded, and a flat fixing plate 45 is integrally formed therein at a prescribed angle. The backrest rod 4 is fastened with a screw in a face contact state to the back surface of a synthetic resin back inner by using an attaching hole 46 formed on the fixing plate. The backrest rod 4 is formed in such a shape that the upper end of the rising part intersects the back surface of the fixing plate while keeping the shape of the cylindrical pipe.

An opening 37 communicating with inside and outside is formed on the hanging wall in the vicinity of the bearing part. The handle part is inserted into the opening and the shaft part is turnably fitted to the bearing part.
