    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an index device for five face machining center configured to be so compact that a turning index device or rocking device is not protruded to the outside of a work anchor block and to provide the same where there are provided: high index accuracy; high surface accuracy; and high rigidity in respect of the work anchor block.SOLUTION: The index device for five face machining center includes: an upside-down portal frame fixed to a table; a rocking drive shaft disposed parallel to the lower side of the upside-down portal frame; a rocking driven shaft disposed along a column of the upside-down portal frame; a support shaft disposed on the same axis line as that of the tip of the column; a motor mount both sides of which are fixed to the support shaft; and the work anchor block whose shaft is fixed to the motor mount. The rocking drive shaft and rocking driven shaft are rotation-coupled via a screw gear. The rocking driven shaft and support shaft are rotation-coupled via a hypoid gear. A turning index motor is mounted to the motor mount 25 so that the same is disposed between both columns of the upside-down portal frame.

      SOLUTION: A truncated semispherical body 2 having its truncated surface as a work holding surface 6 and a mounting base body 1 are provided. Between this truncated semispherical body 2 and the mounting base body 1, an uneven spherical surface having the spherical center of the truncated semispherical body 2 as its center is provided, and it is face-contacted in a freely slidable manner. That enables the tilting of the work holding surface 6 in this two-dimensional tilting cap. The recessed portion 5 of the spherical surface forming the recessed spherical surface is formed on the top of a supporting protrusion 4 protruded inside the mounting base body 1, and a semispherical protrusion 7 forming the protruded spherical surface is protruded in the center on the opposite side of the holding surface of the truncated semispherical body 2.
