    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing phosphorus pentafluoride and hexafluorophosphate capable of producing high quality phosphorus pentafluoride from an inexpensive low-grade raw material while controlling a production cost.SOLUTION: In a method for producing phosphorus pentafluoride, an object of contact containing a substance having a phosphorus atom is brought into contact with a carrier gas containing gaseous hydrogen fluoride to extract the phosphorus pentafluoride into the carrier gas for separation. In a method for producing hexafluorophosphate, the phosphorus pentafluoride obtained in the method for producing phosphorus pentafluoride is reacted with a fluoride according to the following chemical reaction formula to produce hexafluorophosphate. sPF+AF→A(PF)(where s is expressed by 1≤s≤3; and A indicates at least any one selected from the group consisting of Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, NH, Ag, Mg, Ca, Ba, Zn, Cu, Pb, Al, and Fe).
