    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide hydrogen storage alloy powder capable of reducing battery internal resistance and of improving a storage characteristic of a battery, and to provide a nickel-hydrogen battery that uses it.
      SOLUTION: This hydrogen storage alloy powder has an intermetallic compound, having an AB
      5 -type crystalline structure and contains La in each element of an A site and Ni in each element of a B site. The hydrogen storage alloy powder contains not less than 20 wt.% of La and 2-10 wt.% of Ni, and is formed by attaching a needle-like or rice grain-like precipitate, containing La(OH)
      3 to its each surface. In X-ray diffraction analysis that uses K α-line of Cu, when it is assumed that peak intensity, representing the (111) face of LaNi
      5 appearing in the vicinity of a diffraction angle 2θ=42.5° and peak intensity representing the (100) face of La(OH)
      3 appearing in the vicinity of a diffraction angle 2θ=15.8° are P1 and P2, respectively, the ratio P2/P1 becomes P2/P1≥0.02.
