      SOLUTION: The pyridobisimidazole fiber that has an existence state of pyridobisimidazole crystal satisfying S2/S1 of 0.1-1.5 when the diffraction peak area derived from crystal (200) plane is S1 and the diffraction peak area derived from crystal (110) plane, (210) plane and (400) plane is S2 in an equatorial direction profile in an electron diffraction diagram obtained from a surface layer part (from the surface to 1 μm) of pyridobisimidazole fiber and has a mean-square roughness of fiber surface of ≤20 nm measured by an atomic force microscope.
