    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithographic printing ink using a resin excellent in production stability and having high water resistance and good printability, and to provide a good printed matter.SOLUTION: The printing ink comprises a rosin-modified phenol resin (A) produced by the following process. The process of producing the rosin-modified phenol resin comprises allowing a rosin (a), a resol type phenol resin (b) and a polyhydric alcohol (c) to react, in which the resol type phenol resin (b) is divided into two or more fractions and made to react with other components. The total amount of the resol type phenol resin (b) made to react in the second and consecutive times is 110 pts.wt. or less in terms of a weight solid content with respect to total 1000 pts.wt. in terms of a weight solid content of the rosin (a) and the resol type phenol resin (b) made to react in the first time.
