    • PURPOSE:To make the hardness of a carburized member, especially its screw part proper after heat treatment by heating the member once at high output of a temp. required to carry out high frequency tempering, and heating it at low output. CONSTITUTION:A carburized member 1 to be treated is put in the heating coil 2 of a high frequency tempering apparatus, and high frequency current is supplied to the coil 2 to heat chiefly the part 3 of the member 1 to be treated. At this time, the member 1 is heated at high output to a temp. required to carry out high frequency tempering, that is, 600 deg.C- the transformation point, and it is heated at low output. By the two-step heating the member 1 is held at said temp. for a sufficient time.

    • PURPOSE:To discover melting abnormality in an early period by measuring the supply voltage value from a TIG power source and judging the melting abnormality when the value exceeds a prescribed upper limit value or lower limit value. CONSTITUTION:The remelting treatment of a cam 4 is executed by moving a TIG torch 3 having the TIG power source 1 and a tungsten electrode 2 back and forth in an arrow A direction and displacing the torch to follow up at prescribed intervals in an arrow B direction. A cam shaft 5 rotates the cam 4 and a position detector 6 detects the position of the cam 4. An ammeter 7 and a voltmeter 8 are mounted to the TIG power source 1 and the voltmeter 8 can detect the upper limit value and the lower limit value. A melting shear droop 13 is generated on the end face of the cam 4 when the central point of the forward and backward movements of the electrode 2 deviates from a center line 11. The remelting region diminishes when the spacing R between the electrode 2 and the surface 10 of the cam 4 is shorter than the prescribed distance. The voltage of this time is lower than the lower limit value. The defect of the remelting treatment is discovered by measuring the voltage.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent development of strain and remain of internal stress by induction-heating on periphery at shifting part of thick part to thin part, executing primary and secondary heating specifying heating coil position after quenching by rapid cooling and tempering. CONSTITUTION:A work placing table 3 is ascended and a work W is carried to heating position for quenching and the heating coil 1 is faced to a face F to be treated and surface (f) of the shifting part C of the work and electric current is conducted in the coil 1 to rise the faces F, (f) to the prescribed quenching temp. Next, the parts F, (f) to be heated, are descended to cooling position for quenching, and rapidly cooled and quenched by cooling fluid injected from holes (s) of a jacket 2. After that, the work W is ascended to the primary heating position as the same position as the heating position for quenching and the electric current is conducted to the coil 1 and the faces F, (f) are risen to the prescribed tempering temp. Next, the work W is ascended to the secondary heating position, and the coil 1 is faced on the face (f) and the surface of thick part B and the electric current is conducted on the coil 1 for the prescribed time to heat the tempering faces. After that, the work W is descended to the cooling position as the same position as the cooling position for quenching, and the parts F, (f) to be heated and the thick part B are cooled by the cooling fluid as the same as the above.
