    • PURPOSE:To make stable car height controlling come to fruition as a whole, by setting a pseudo-desired position according to a target difference between an actual position and a desired regulating position of each of plural car height control mechanisms and according to the position, making a control unit generate a control signal. CONSTITUTION:In case of a device which constitutes each of plural car height control mechanisms in a way of combining each of normally-closed type three- position solenoid valves 17 and 18 on shock absorbers 11 and 12 for front wheel use with a common, normally-closed three-position solenoid valve 19 on shock absorbers 13 and 14 for rear wheel use, each of car height control sensors 25- 28 generating an actual position signal after car height controlled is additionally installed in each of these shock absorbers 11-14. Each position signal is inputted into a control unit together with an output signal out of a setter (unillustrated herein) altering a desired regulated position. And, a pseudo-desired position commensurate to a target difference between an actual position and a desired position is set at every car height control mechanism, thereby making the control unit generate a control signal to each car height control mechanism according to the pseudo-desired position and the actual position.

    • PURPOSE:To improve feeling upon riding on a vehicle or the steering stability of the vehicle by a method wherein a running condition such as the sudden starting or the high-speed running of the vehicle is detected from the opening degree signal of a throttle and a shift position signal to increase the damping force of a shock absorber temporarily. CONSTITUTION:When an exciting current is supplied to solenoid coil 50 and a plunger 52 is attracted and moved to the left against a spring 54, a variable orifice 40 is closed by a valve 52a and, under this condition, the communicating sectional area of a shock absorber becomes a small area determined by orifices 30, 32, or the same 33, 34, thereby enabling to vary and adjust the damping force temporarily. Accordingly, the comforatable feeling upon riding on a vehicle and the good steering stability of the vehicle may be obtained by a method wherein the running condition of the vehicle such as the sudden starting or the high-speed running, for example, is detected by the opening degree signal of the throttle for an engine and the shift position signal of a speed change mechanism by exciting the solneoid coil 50.
